Purpose of Competition

To provide a safe environment for competitors to demonstrate their skills in Auto Collision Repairs and Tasks as well as their knowledge of repair procedures.

Skills and Knowledge to be tested

Competitors will be asked to demonstrate their knowledge of auto body repair procedures including.

Procedures to be Judge- 75%

  • Reading and Translating manufacturer repair procedure plans.
  • Using appropriate tools and equipment to perform a sectioning repair and replacement.
  • Perform accurate welding procedures.
  • Proper use of a measuring system to provide an accurate measurement to match manufacturer specifications.

Safe work practices to be judges- 25%

  • Wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment throughout the competition
  • Being spatially aware of their surroundings
  • Identifying hazards and reading MSDS sheets for material being used

  • Tram Bar Gauge
  • Measuring Tape

  • 80-180 Grit orbital Sandpaper
  • 80-180 Grit Block Sandpaper
  • Bondo + Activator
  • Salvage Yard B-Pillars

Repair order /15

Finding and reading manufacturers Specs for B Pillar jobs

Welding /45

Using Weld Cutting drill bits to cut and remove a B pillar section, Welding B pillar section back on with sleeves, Butt Joint, Lap Joint

Measuring / 15

Using a Tram bar to measure record and compare Engine Bay specifications to manufacturers specifications

Safety

Safety is a priority at the Limestone Skills Competition. Any competitor can be removed from the competition site if safety standards are not met.
