Purpose of Competition
To provide a safe environment for competitors to demonstrate their skills in Auto paint and prep as well as knowledge of proper procedures to follow.
Skills and Knowledge to be tested
Competitors will be asked to demonstrate their knowledge of auto paint and prep procedures including.
Procedures to be Judge- 75%
Reading and Translating Technical Data Sheets on material being used in the competition site.
Sanding and repairing defects in plastic bumpers.
Following proper sequence when applying adhesion promoter, primer, sealer
Using paint mixing equipment properly
Accurately mixing paint products
Spraying Base coat and clear coat with proper handling techniques
Repairing Defects in painted panels
Safe work practices to be judges- 25%
Wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment throughout the competition
Being spatially aware of their surroundings
Identifying hazards and reading MSDS sheets for material being used

Finding TDS for products being used, Using the system to read ratios mix paint accurately, Spraying base coat and clear with proper handling
Fixing Paint Problems and Polishing /15
Fixing a run on a panel, Wet sanding a panel to reduce orange peel, followed by polishing to return panel to glossy finish
